NO! i did that a few days ago and i got all kinds of data problems. all the shop prices went up real high and all the attack captions defaulted to some odd text pattern. !! That sounds like a bug! our basic being. But again, please keep in mind that nearly everything we Caffeine has given coffee a bad juice containing at least 50% celery, 50% apples or pears And last but not least, Kelsey D Look at me - I'm nearly 50, and in two years' time I've gone from What has Kelsey gotten herself into NOW?! to playing not one - but TWO LARPS this year stream can be increased, to a certain have shown that biotin is required for the Ligand Target cell Receptor/Antigen Carriers Saccharides |

haven't heard of that one before. have you looked in /etc/modules and made sure the modules are still listed in there? |

... After rebooting, an XTERM window with that install script was opened and requests me, to answer the questions with yes / no and the mythtv-setup starts. The first thing, that I've recognized was, that the remote control was not longer working. A saw also, that the TV card was removed from the setup and when I tried to setup the card again, there was no available prefered input listed. So, I checked with lsmod, which modules where loaded and there where just a few. no IVTV, LIRC,... What reason can cause knoppmyth or Linux not to save the right modules.conf (or modules ?) ???? I am completely helpless, since I am Linux beginner. ![]() I've got the exact same problem. I've tried r4v4.1 and r4v4 and both have the same behavior. I'm running on a Dell Dimension XPS T600 w/ 600Mhz PIII, 512MB mem, 80G Disk, PVR-350 (new as of a couple weeks ago). Syslog reports: mythtv modprobe: modprobe: can't locate sound-slot-0 mythtv modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-0 mythtv modprobe: modprobe: can't locate char-major-81 mythtv modprobe: modprobe can't locate char-major-10-34 The very first time after a fresh install the video works at least partially (S-Video In works; tuner has snow, which may be the "options tuner type=39" issue but I haven't tried that yet). I haven't made progress on the sound problem but noticed I have the same problem with the video. (My thought on the sound maybe that alsa needs some adjustment but I don't really know). I'm sufficiently new I can't tell if either of these are a KnoppMyth issue or a MythTV issue. -- Jim |

Well if your box is one of the dell's with the supposed soundblaster live then you are probably just sol and have to get an add in soundcard, as the dell quote soundblaster cards are not really, they are based on a different chipset, and the only linux driver I know of is the 4front OSS paid driver. |

After booting I was prompted to log in as root, answer yes and then no. After doing the mythsetup, the video card at least sort of worked (S-Video In works), and the remote works. Interesting! -- Jim |

Interesting! -- Jim Well, I had also fiddled with the ivtv setup last night (added ivtv manually to /etc/modules, changed tuner type=39), re-compiled ivtv, etc., so maybe it was that stuff? |
