Have the Hauppauge PVR 250 card > wasn't able to get audio working with Mandrake 10 so I decided to try KnoppMyth. Using the latest version I tried installing on drive /dev/hdd > (this is my removable hard drive bay which I can boot to directly) > I unplugged the other hard drives to be on the safe side. Tried "auto install" > get a message "can't locate module block-major-3" & it stops.

Tried manual install> when I boot I get "GRUB" & that's it. I've edited the config file for /dev/hdd & /etc/lilo.conf to point to the right drive. When I boot to the cd & exit to a prompt & run /sbin/lilo -v I get an error message. I've seen some posts stating that lilo is broken in the latest version of KnoppMyth. Can anyone confirm this? How do I solve these problems?

MythTV wants to install on your primary master HD - aka "/dev/hda". This is also why installs to SATA drives are painful.

Swap cables and jumpers as needed to make the drive you want to install on the master hd on your primary IDE interface to achieve this.

Anything else is an unnecessary complication and may put the objective at risk.

Message ends. ;-)

Well, it does sound like he does have it installed. LILO does seem to have a issue with some drives... Odd that he found the post that state there is an issue but not the post that provides a solution. I myself posted one not a week ago...

I'm uncertain... Hopfully we'll have everything ironed out with R5. But like I stated, the solution has been posted on the forum... I'm certain a search for all terms of chroot lilo by cesman would give an answer...
