PVR-250 and PVR-350 but only input sound on one of them.

Should I rebuild ivtv or are my settings wrong?

PVR-250: (picture ok but no sound)
/dev/video0
/dev/vbi0
/dev/dsp0
Default input: Tuner0

PVR-350: (works fine) :D
/dev/video1
/dev/vbi
/dev/dsp
Default input: Tuner0

hmm that's odd. I suppose one of them coudl be the newer revision which requires ivtv rebuild, but usually that manfests itself as no video not sound. you could use test_ioctl to make sure that the volume is not muted on either of the cards, other than that I'm not sure, as the pvr cards mux the sound into the video stream in hardware. Seems like there was one person on this list that actually got a bad pvr250 where the sound didn't work and had to return it and get another one.

I rebuilt ivtv - it didnt change anything as far as I could see.

Then I changed settings to:

PVR-250:
/dev/video0
/dev/vbi0
/dev/dsp0
Default input: Tuner0

PVR-350:
/dev/video1
/dev/vbi1
/dev/dsp1
Default input: Tuner0

And rebooted - and all was fine - I finally had sound on both PVR's

I am sometimes lucky and both my 350 and 250 have picture and sound - but after I boot I can not be sure and have to check and often reboot and check again until both sound and picture are present on both cards.

Any ideas?

Sound is of on one of the cards approx 50% of the times I reboot - and I have to reboot weekly from frontend og even backend crashes.

Picture is normally ok - but sometimes black screen on one of the cards after reboot.

Plz help if you can.

TIA

I think I would be more concerned with why you are having to reboot once a week. I only reboot when the power goes out. (which in the last month hasn't been much more than a week at a time, but that's another rant) My box is generally up for at least two to 3 months till I decide to try the newest version or some other such nonsense.

Have you posted to the ivtv mailing list? BTW:This isn't a KnoppMyth related installation issue.
