Post subject:  I finally have tv-out on my 350! BUT.... no sound :(

Hi all,
I've finally got TV going!! on my Haugauge 350, and I can now do an X out.
BUT, I can't get any sound!!

I've done music via mythtv, and played a CD, but, I can't get any music from my Haupauge 350.
I even plugged the audio out (from the 350) into speakers: no go.

Can anyone point me into the right direction?

Thanks!

I have the latest version of knoppMyth.
here's my ivtv settings:

alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c
options ivtv debug=1
options saa7127 enable_output=1 output_select=1
options tuner type=39
# optiosn msp3400 once=1 simple=1
options msp3400 once=0 simpler=1 simple=0
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 saa7127 tuner
add above ivtv lirc_dev lirc_i2c ivtv-fb

This isn't a KnoppMyth Installation issue and doesn't belong here.

ummm ok, then where should I post it?
I thought this was an install issue.

Any help would be appreciated!

When you use the TVout of the PVR350, the only sound you can get there is the one from TV or recordings. Any other sound (MP3 etc) will still come from the sound card.

One way is to feed the sound out from the PVR350 to the line in of your soundcard and hook the speakers to the sound card. You can use the mixer to control the setup.

thanks for your ideas. but, a few questions.
1. would I just do a rca out to a sterio plug into the line in of the sundcard?
2. wouldnt' there be some.. time lag? from the time it hits the hard drive, to mythtv, it would slow down a bit? and the sound out, will be slightly faster?

3. if this is done, then I get the mixer to point to where?

wouldn't I just get the mixer to point to the tv-in portion of the 350??

Thanks

Will

The 350 output goes into the line-in of your soundcard. The headphones of your soundcard go into to your TV. Use aumix to adjust the mixer. Make sure the Line-In is set to "R". Adjust your Master, PCM, and Line-In levels.

thanks so much for your help!
To confirm.

the 2 rca "line out"s (Red and White) that are coming from the 350, are going to the "line in" on my sound card. IF I have speakers connected to my sound card, then I should hear the TV. I have to use aumix to adjust the mixer. (I assume its like the windows version)...
what do you mean by the "R"? (I'll check this out soon, when I get home).

Thanks so much for your help!!!

btw: if I have a "boom box" control speakers, where there's "line in" rca jacks for "input sound", wouldn't I be able to hear the tv, if I plug the rca's (red and white) rca plugs into that? music is going into the speakers, so I should be able to hear right???

IF I can't, then isn't there an issue?

Thanks

Will

Thanks for your help BUT, I tried as you suggested, I bought a splitter, to go into my "line in" on my sound card: No go. It doesn't work.
I adjusted the alsamixer, and kept it up in an xterm, while I used mythtv: no sound.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks

why would you need a splitter?

oops, I ment to say I bought a cable adapter: from rca (red and white), to stereo plug into my sound card line in.

I've searched other posts, that mentioned about the.. darn, not by the computer /usr/local/bin/test_ioctl? -a and yes, I have mute=1
I did a mute=0, verified the different mixers: aslda, and there's another one... no such luck: I get no sound.

SO, I thought of recomplying the ivtv, and copying over the .O file, BUT, I can't find the tared files anywhere: where are they?

any other help would be great.

William
