I want to run KnoppMyth from the CD without a backend (for viewing movies, etc.. on the road) is this possible? I have a Dell Inspiron 2500 and KnoppMyth loads up just fine only it can't see a backend because there is none. Any ideas?

You can try and start mysql and mythbackend and point the frontend to itself. I have not tried this and have no idea if it will work. If the movies you want to watch are mpeg, avis, etc, why just not use mplayer?

I do a lot of drug-research studies. I have quite the wide selection of movies (Xvid, Ogg, DivX, etc..) and NES games. currently, Im using WinXP to view all my movies, but I just installed Redhat on my laptop due to helping out a friend setup his redhat network and I want to run mythtv on it to watch the movies because mythtv looks awesome. I tried pointing the database at localhost but when I click on the MythTV (after the left click) nothing happens. no errors, no nothing. I guess I COULD just use mplayer, but whats the fun in that? ;)
