Post subject:  init error on bootup - hde problem?

OK here's the history:

Im running an AMD athlon 550, 192mb ram, pvr-350, voodoo 3-3000 vid and SBlive Sound. 160gb ide drive running from a raid card. The bios wont recongnize the HD, and long story short, I had to move it to a raid card to recognize. Tryed to install knoppmyth and the installer could not partion my drive.... did a quick search of the forums and found some previous posts about the knoppmyth ide=reverse hack.... Did the auto install, and everything seemed to be peachy. Rebooted... booted to command prompt on the HD, edited the lilo.conf, and /etc/fstab - changed references from hda to hde. Rebooted again... This time it gets a decent bit into the loading process (by decent, a good page full of gibberish flies by on the screen) and I end up with an error and it wont boot any further... here are the last lines it gives me that dont look normal:

vfs: mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Journalled Block Device driver loaded.
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-3, errno = 2
Mount: no such device or address
Freeing unused kernel memory: 116k freed
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel

my guess is that there is still some reference somewhere to hda... but im too much of a linux newb to know where else to look without someone holding my hand... What do you guys think the problem is?
