Hi,

I have installed KnoppMyth and it went relatively smoothly! I was able to play a CD and the TV out works fine. I have an ASUS V8200 Deluxe Graphics card. It has an NVIDIA chipset so installed the NVIDIA drivers and updated the XFConfig-4 file to configure for TV out. Everything fine. However, it does not seem to play TV in (I have my sky satelite digibox signal connected using S-Video to the S-Video connector on the card). When I try to watch live TV I get a message saying there is already a recording in progress even though there is none scheduled or anything. Any ideas on how to tweak it so I can watch/record live TV. I can't play DVDs yet either but that's for another post!

Thanks,
RonanOD

Hello,

So why is this posted in KnoppMyth -> Installation?!

I did say "relatively" :) Maybe I should have stressed the fact that although it looks like it installed ok, when I boot up there is a message along the lines of "No video capture card detected!". It seems to me that the installation isn't fully picking up on my graphics card and the fact that it has a TV in capability. I have no objection to moving this to another section of the forum though. Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place.

I have done a bit of googling and found the RivaTV project (http://rivatv.sourceforge.net/) which seems to say that there should be full driver support for my card. It also looks like RivaTV is utilized by MythTV. So my question is: why didn't the auto-probe on KnoppMyth's install pick up on this? Or, alternatively, how do I post-install configure to get KnoppMyth to recognize my card's TV in capability.

Thanks,
RonanOD

If I ever make it to Ireland hopfully you'll have a drink with me, because I'm going to scold you now. You stated in your original post that you have a problem watching TV. How is this related to installation? Then you follow up with "No video capture card detected!". Perhaps I can concede that this may belong in Installation. But you posted no details about what tuner card you have. You didn't state if you check to see if the card is properly seated. If the card is an nVidia's 'all in one', then these as far as I'm aware don't work. Someone has stated in that past that is works with MythTV via the rivatv drivers but no one as verified this... If you'd have search the forum for "rivatv" you'd have found this information.
