Is it possible to use mythrestore on a r4v5 system using r4v2 backup files? I vaguely remember that the myth tables might have been changed.

My problem is that the r4v2 backup spits out a backup.tar file and mythrestore is looking for mythtv.tar.bz2 so mythupdate fails because file is not found. Can I rename the tar file to mythtv, and then bzip it? Or is it more complicated than that?

It isn't more complicated than that...Take a look at the scripts. The important thing is mythconverg.sql and that hasn't changed.

I got paranoid about it when I got the error about the bz2 file, but I mustered my courage and rebooted, and like magic, voila! It worked.

If anybody is in the same boat with me from an upgrade from R4V2 put out a holler and I'll tell you what worked for me.
