I tired the default options, entered user names, passwords, and host name. Right after that, the install quits and gives this error:

modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module block-major-3
/usr/local/bin/KnoppMyth-auto: line 608: / 10000000: syntax error: operand expected (error token is: / 10000000")

When I tried booting in 'failsafe' mode, It bombs out also.

Welcome to the KnoppMyth Linux CD!

Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry. Dropping you to a (very limited) shell. Press reset button to quit.

are you by chance using scsi disks? have you installed anything else on this system? I'm not completely sure, but the error kind of makes me think it can't find your hard drive.

Yes sir, it's a SCSI disc, but the probe finds my controller and I can manually partition it in the software.

if you tried the autoinstall you may want to try the manual install, I think I read somewhere that knoppmyth is expecting one ide drive for the autoinstall. Of course that's just a vague recolection of a past thread.

P.S. where do you guys get all the money for scsi disks big enough to put mythtv on? One of these days I'll have money to spend on my toys agian. :(

That was the problem! I popped in an IDE drive and it worked like a charm. The setup does expect an IDE drive ON THE PRIMARY IDE CHANNEL. The board I am installing to is an older ASUS A7V133 which has an ATA/100 controller in addition to the standard IDE. I cannot use the drive on the ATA/100 (at least at the setup stage; I may be able to move it over once the install has completed).

Thanks for the suggestion!
