Post subject: | Autoupdate R4V5-new schema |
I just attempted to use the AutoUpdate feature for KnoppMyth R4V5 and I am having difficulty getting MythTV to start up. I did a Mythbackup prior to the update. GDM loads and I can access an xterm, however, after mythtv-setup ran the first time and the packages were installed (i686-lirc/XvMc), it would not run the second time into the GUI to create settings. The message is that a new "schema" appears to have been created. Please verify in the settings that the DBschema variable is set and good (or something like this). Any ideas how to fix this so I can get back to my mythTV (my girlfriend is about to kill me!!) |

I updated from R4V4 to R4V5. I've tried to run mythrestore again and I've checked the db for errors, all OK. Unfortunately, the original message doesn't say which mythconverg database the variable should be in (otherwise I would manually go into it to look-through webmin or something) ....also, when i try connecting through mythweb, it gives the error message that the database mythconverg.settings can not be found....so in two places it refers to this "settings" database that i don't have. I thought maybe the "settings" database is created AFTER I finish myth-setup...but i can't run it until this problem is solved. If there is a command to do a different db restore....i'll give it shot. I really wouldn't weant to have to lose all my shows and just do a clean install. |

I just re-read the error message, it says: "Told to create a NEW database schema but athe database already has 34 tables. If you are sure this is a good myth database, verify that the settings table has the DBSchemaVer variable." Maybe this makes more sense than my earlier attempt to explain from memory. |

Well, does it have that variable? Running the following command as root should show you everything in the settings table: Code: mysql mythconverg -e "select * from settings order by value;"
