Hi all,
I just installed Knoppmyth R4V5 tonight on my Asus Pundit system with a Hauppauge PVR350. I have 512Meg or RAM installed int he system with an Intel P4 2.4 GHZ proc.

After installing Knoppmyth and I config it, it all works fine. As soon as I reboot the box, it crashes right after starting mysql...it attepts to bring up the NIC card then the keyboard lights start flashing. I didn't have a problem with my built in NIC card on my Pundit wth R4V2, is there any difference in R4V5? What's strange is that after I configure it after the install, it will go out and grab all the data from Zap2it so I know the NIC card is up and running before the reboot.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Yes there is a known issue with the pundit nic and blinking keyboard lights in R4V3 and above.

Try setting the NIC up for static and don't have the cable plugged in on boot.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll give that a try. So everytime I reboot the system I have to have the network cable unplugged? Is there a permanent fix that I can use such as rolling the drivers back on the NIC card so that it is the same version as those that were in R4V2? If I can do this does anyone know what version (if it is the driver itself causing the problem) that was in R4V2?

Thanks Again

It's not the driver for the NIC itself, noone has done enough testing to assure what the problem is, but in my estimation it is the fact that apic and acpi got removed from the kernel for R4V3 and up. One other thing to try is changing the setting in the bios I can't remember it exactly right now, but change from apic to pic. This will be fixed in R5 whenever it is released. (don't hold your breath for it though it's still a ways out)

I found a fix...disabled the onboard NIC and installed a PCI 3COM NIC card I had laying around...works now. Now I have to get TV-Out on my PVR350 working again.....

Thanks for the help!

Steve

I'll try the onboard NIC again when R5 comes out.
