hi folks, my compliments to dale and cecil for a Job Well Done on KnoppMyth. I've spent the last couple of weeks doing a "proof-of-concept" test on an old Latitude laptop, and the results convinced me that Myth is worth the effort. Great fun! Question: -if i have a R4V5 backend already setup but wish to transfer mythconverg.sql to a new R4V5 backend, what' the best approach? I seem to lean toward installing R4V5 on the new box, backup the old R4V5 box via KnoppMyth backup, transfer those backup files to the new box, and run KnoppMyth restore. The new box will replace the old one, so it's config is identical in regards to IP address, host name, etc. OR...is it possible to just transfer mythconverg.sql to the new backend? Am I barking up the wrong tree? -Bob K. |

you can just copy over the backup directory and run the restore. this will restore the database, and the mythtv user dir, however it will not restore ip settings and the like at least I don't believe it does. I'd have to look at the script again to know for sure, but from memory it basically just backs up the db and the mythv user dir. |
