10/15/03 Double whammy, both Dale and I have been under the weather. But the good news is that I have permission from Hauppauge to distribute the drivers for the PVR-x50 with KnoppMyth! Thanks to Hauppauge and Anthony from SHSPVR for getting me intouch with them! I have not used KnoppMyth yet, but will be shortly (I just have to burn the CD and then use it), and I have some questions: When will the drivers be included with KnoppMyth? What do we have to do now to get the PVR-350 to work? I have tried with redhat and debian but could not get the drivers properly loaded (I could only capture black-and-white). Does the computer have to be hooked up to the tv input signal (in my case cable) when the installation is going on? Thank you very much, tyro PS I hope you guys feel better. |

Hi tyro. I also use a PVR350 and try to install R3 these nights (if my brand's already okay... see postings below). If I get any solution I'll tell it here. steps |

Sorry tyro. It's 04:05 pm local time and there was no time tonight to install software again 
Because there are no CRT left here I couldn't start installation first -> screen became black after X-Server starts up. Very strange error but I didn't have time to take a look at it. After I found a CRT (14"!  ) and wanted to start installation again, I had a lot of trouble with defective server and switches. ...I LOVE my job... 
But I won't give up! Never!!

To get it working w/ R3. I'd suggest following the instructions in the IvyTV FAQ. Just want to verify. I would assume that you mean you can include the firmware with the distrobution, but you know what they say about assumtions. As far as I know the driver is reverse engineered and open source, but not the firmware. |

No, I cannot legally include the firmware. I'm including the open source drivers and have obtained permission from Hauppauge to include the Windows drivers. With R4, if you install a PVR-x50(we've only tested w/ a 250) our scripts will detect the card and set things up! cesman |

ok so you are including the open source drivers and their script that pulls the firmware from the windows drivers. And hauppage gave you permision to put the windows drivers on there so you can now use the script to extract the firmware and set everything up. that's pretty cool. |

Hi, I installed KnoppMyth_rl 4 using the auto install. WHenever I boot, then it stops and gives this error: ivtv: Decoder Mailbox not found ivtv: error getting encoder firmware version ivtv: error getting decoder firmware version then it stops responding. I can boot if I take the ivtv stuff out of /etc/modules.conf with a Knoppix bootdisk. I'm assuming this is a problem with the ivtv driver being used. I did extract the firmware using my CD I got from hauppage so it should be drivers good enough to run it. Stefan |

Boot from the CD. Using option 6, quit. mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1 chroot /mnt/hda1 cd /usr/local/lib/ivtv/utils ./ivtvfwextract.pl ../driver/pvr250_17_21226.exe Any error messages? You should see none. ls -l /lib/modules/ You should see something like: drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Nov 3 13:31 2.4.21-xfs drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jul 22 2003 extra -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 262144 Feb 21 11:40 ivtv-fw-dec.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 262144 Feb 21 11:40 ivtv-fw-enc.bin drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 3 03:50 misc Notice that the date for ivtv* is current. exit reboot |
