I have a multi-boot pc, with xp, w2k, wme and more (5 sysop ).
I have find space for mythtv. I modify the config file 'knoppmyth' with the drive where I want install knoppmyth.
But the install procedure generate errors. I will write the list.
If possible modify the install script?
I'm a linux-newbie.
Thanks

5 operating systems....Holy multi-boot Batman. Without the errors, I cannot tell what the problems is.. Rewrite in the install script?! Probably not for one person w/ an exotic setup. Post the errors and I'll see if I can help you.

this is a extrct from logfiles
from syslog
kernel: hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Oct 22 07:05:13 localhost kernel: hdc: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC } Oct 22 07:05:13 localhost kernel: blk: queue c0331e54, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff) Oct 22 07:05:13 localhost kernel: ide1: reset: success
from mythbackend.log [i]Starting up as the master server. ERROR: no capture cards are defined in the database. QSettings: error creating /.qt QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty
the 2 commands mke2fs don't generate error, but I haven't '/cache' and '/myth' on root.
Only in the first installation I did have '/cache'.
If you need the entire logfiles (messages, mythbackend.log, syslog) send me a private message
Thank you

I cannot do nothing about this... Looks like a drive issue. Gimzo wrote: from mythbackend.log [i]Starting up as the master server. ERROR: no capture cards are defined in the database. QSettings: error creating /.qt QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty

You don't have any capture cards, MythTV willn't be able to capture anything. If you used a name of localhost, unless you change the parameters MythTV will try and save to /myth.

I have a WinTV with BT878.
With Knoppix r3.3 I can watch TV.
I have checked my knoppmyth-iso, it's ok.
Can I make any test?
Bye,

I'm not certain I understand. Does your WinTV not work w/ KnoppMyth?

Yes, I can't watch TV with Knoppmyth.
If I click on 'TV Watch' in MythTV, the program crash.
The complete history now:
I can't install on hda1, hda2 ... , I have analized setupfile knoppmyth and the I start configure installation, and I modify only the drives.
The installation give errors (I wrote).
At start of MythTV server come this error 'error creating /home/knoppix/.qt
Than the command mke2fs don't give errors, but I can't find at the next boot '/cache' and '/myth' (only at the first installation I have found '/myth' but not '/cache').
After reboot MythTV start regular, but is impossible to quit, but if I 'watch TV' the program crash.
Next step: mkmythdir can't create dirs because don't exist '/myth' and '/cache' dirs
and /ect/cron.daily/mythtv-backend give this message error:
'QSettings: error creating /home/knoppix/.qt QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty Starting up as the master server. ERROR: no capture cards are defined in the database.
Bye

You need to define the card(s). Did you run mythtv-setup?
