I've got everything setup, I think. I'm not sure because when I pulg the box into the tv, attach the video cable (composite), turn on the tv and set it to line, then turn the computer on, the screen starts to flicker. X hasn't even started yet. I went into the bios and there was a setting in there for TV out, I'm not sure if it's detecting the video card (Radeon 7000) or not, but I tried both TV and CRT settings and they both flicker on startup. Poor Tux keeps boucing up and down the screen and it doesn't go away when X starts up. Any ideas on what's going on? I've looked on the boards and Google, but can't seem to find anything. Thanks. |

I might be having the same problem... I got myth working perfectly on a monitor, so I decided it was time to go hook it up to a TV. I thought this would be a nice simple task of just plugging in the wires and turning it on... That was a week ago. I can not figure out how to get TV-out working correctly. When I turn on the computer all the POST information shows up perfectly on the TV, but when linux starts to load it just goes to a black screen with two bouncing white boxes. After another minute or so it stops sending a signal to the TV. I've scoured the boards and spent way too much time trying to get this to work... hopefully somebody can lead me in the right direction. |

I dont think this is the same thing. Even the POST info isn't in sync. I figure it's got to be a video card issue. Problem is the TV I have only will accpet RCA in, and not s-video. The monitor part works fine, so I don't know if its a MB/BIOS conflict type of issue, or just a broken card. I'm not sure how you would test that. |

If there is a setting in your bios for TV-out, your motherboard must have TV-out built in... have you tried that one? |

Nope. I know it doesn't have TV out built on the board, but it's got an option for that in the AGP settings in the bios. Its an ASUS A7V8X-MX KM400/VT8235CE and I'm using an Radeon 7000 |

That's interesting. When you plug a monitor into the VGA port on the Radeon it works, right? |

Yup, the VGA port works well enough to run the monitor. |

Do you have a windows PC you could put the Radeon in to test the TV-out? |

If there is setting in the BIOS for TV out or CRT this is probably from the video chipset built into the motherboard(Radeon?). If it is flickering at boot, there is probably something wrong w/ the card. You also want to ensure you adjust the refresh rates in XF86Config-4. |

Hey cesman I was thinking the same thing about his problem...it sounds like a hardware problem. Also, the tv-out setting in bios would have nothing to do with the radeon card. I've adjusted the refresh rates in XF86Config-4, but I still can't use TV-out with KnoppMyth (see post 2 in this thread). I forgot to mention in my post that I have an Asus Pundit and am using the onboard video. Are there any known problems with this? I couldn't find any other problems similar to mine on any of the boards. |

I have not a link, but I think special drivers exist for chipset in the Pundit. If I remember correctly someone has posted it in the R5 feature request thread. |
