I have a AMD K6/2-500 system with a 10G disk and PVR350

Ran through Autoinstall and did not notice any errors. Rebooted completed
the install selecting i586. Now I have a blank desktop, with Xterm and
MythTv on the menu. Selecting MythTv doesn't seem to do anything.

/var/log/mythtv/mythtvbackend.log contains:

The second block of lines is reported once for each startup I think.

Any clues?
Thanks,
Steve

As root install-i586-l since the 350 has a remote. I think I goofed somewhere along the line w/ the i586 package. Gomen ne(sorry)

yeah it looks like you didn't put the mysql password in there when you built the i586 package.

Thanks for the reply.

The install-i586-l script seems to fail:

dpkg: error processing mythtv-i586-lirc_0.12-1_i386.deb (--install): trying to overwrite `/etc/mythtv/mysql.txt', which is also in package mythtv-i586-lirc-xvmc
dpkg-deb:subprocess killed by signal (Broken pipe)

I tried removing the referenced mysql.txt file and rerunning - same result.

I don't know if this is relevant but I also noticed that sometimes on system
start up I get a system crash:

i2c-core.o client [saa7112[0]] registered to adapter....
invalid operand: 0000
ivtv <long list of module/package names here>
<register dump>

and the system hangs.

Other times there is a crash dump but the system boots

Thanks for any help
Steve

As root:
dpkg -r mythtv-i586-lirc-xvmc
install-i586-l

Thanks for the reply. However the crash during system boot I referred to is now happening all the time so I guess I have to solve that first. I've re-installed several times - same result. I can install plain Knoppix V3.3 no problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks, got Myth running now. Updated ivtv as per your instructions.
Re did the install-i586 as per above.
Fixed mysql.txt as per here:

Now, off to read the posts about the PVR blank screen issue. :)
