Hi -- I recently installed R5A12 on my 7NIF2.. for some reason the on board sound card isn't being recognized.. checked the wiki but it's not clear how to setup sound in R5... FYI I also update asla-utils alsa-base and ran alsa_init However, I am still unable to run alsamixer as the sound card is not properly configured. I am just trying to use the built in AC'97 on the 7NIF2 |

did you try alsa-autoconfig? i think it's under /etc/init.d see if that helps. also what is your cat /proc/asound/pcm and /proc/asound/devices look like? |

thanks i just tried ./also-autoconfig... root@mythtv:/etc/init.d# ./alsa-autoconfig Building card database.. root@mythtv:/etc/init.d# but nothing changed as far as I can tell. here is a print out of pcm and devices... root@mythtv:/etc/init.d# cat /proc/asound/pcm root@mythtv:/etc/init.d# cat /proc/asound/devices 33: : timer root@mythtv:/etc/init.d# |

Thanks the problem was that AC'97 was disabled in the bios. Once I restarted I ran alsa_conf and alsa_init then restarted. Then I adjusted the levels in the alsamixer |
