I'm using a chaintech 7nif4 mobo with a WesternDig 200 gig SATA drive. It's plugged into SATA1 and comes up as IDE3 master on boot screen. On booting off the R5A12 disc I run boot: knoppmyth screen=640x480 Then I selected manual install, then partition Code: Choose one disk ( ) sda model unknown (200.05 GB) I get the feeling that should have an x next to it or a check or something... but no keypress changes it, so I enter next... on the bottom of the screen in plain text it prints Code: Opened disk read-only - you have no permission to write_ pressed [enter] Code: FATAL ERROR: Cannot get disk size
Press any key to exit cfdisk then it returns to the main menu side error: the quit option doesn't work. note: I downloaded the file through bittorrent and burned it using nero after it was done, so there's no reason it should be corrupted. I managed to install debian 3.0r4 which I also downloaded just in case the r5a12 didn't work. I was able to partition the drive as recommended for mythtv (root is 2.5 gigs, swap is twice the ram, cache is 5 gigs, myth is the rest). But I really don't know what to do from here.... As of right now I'm downloading r4v5 because in my looking around the forum it seems to be the most stable version. Is there something I've done wrong in such that r5a12 is still viable? Should I stick with debian and go from there? Should I go with r4v5? Suggestions/Ideas? I really hope I'm not missing something really obvious here, I'd like to think I'm not THAT ignorant. edit: I never tried spacebar to select the harddrive... I feel very very very dumb. I'm a noob. |

Solved on IRC. TIP: Code: Push TAB to select options in ncurses (GUI the install is in), and press space to select/deselect.
