Post subject:  pvr 350 sound drops out after two or three recordings

First of all I want to thank everyone involved for providing KnoppMyth, it finally brought me close to a perfectly working pvr after some unsuccessful tries with other distributions!

After reading lots of news and googling around one weird problem with the sound during capturing is left.

Prerequisites:
- Asus Pundit with PVR350
- KnoppMyth R4 with MythTV .13 from the debs and the latest ivtv CVS tarball (however, the problem also occurred with .12 and an older ivtv version)
- deleted the xawtv-call in Knoppmyth-run so the muted sound (test_ioctrl -y mute=0) is no more a problem
- switching channels in LiveTV works fine, with sound

Ok, now here comes the problem:
After a number of perfect recordings (usually 2-3) with sound the next recording has no sound at all. I have the feeling that this especially happens when recoding the second of two back-to-back broadcasts in the same channel.
When I delete the recording and go to LiveTV there is also no sound.
test_ioctl -a shows mute=0 so that's not the problem.
/var/log/messages and /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log show nothing unusual.

After restarting the mythbackend during a no-sound-recording (/etc/init.d/mythtv-backend restart) the current recording is restarted too and sound is back.

I have no more ideas how to fix that and google neither has.

Cheers,
rachengold

Tough one....But it sound like it maybe related to ivtv. Have you tried the ivtv archive?

that is odd. I had this happen one time during the couple months I've been using knoppmyth, but I just thought it was a fluke, because I record about 30 hours a week and it only happend once.

@cesman

right, it was a good hint to focus me on the ivtv driver.
I found out that the msp3400 kernel-module shall be called with parameters as described in the MythTV-howto and in http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=1#q30 which is not done in KnoppMyth R4.

I added a file msp3400 in the /etc/modutils directory which contains one line:
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1 standard=0x03 (for germany)

and ran update-modules to transfer changes in modules.conf.

Now everything seems to be fine.

Implementing the parameters in R5 might be a good idea?

cheers
