I have a PVR-250 Black Remote. I could not get it to work. I started irw and press the buttons on the remote and nothing shows up. Do anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Perhaps a search of the forum...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already have.

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=413

This person seemed to get hex values with irw.

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=180

The file (/usr/local/lib/ivtv/utils/lircrc.conf) doesn't exist but exists as (/usr/local/lib/ivtv/utils/lircrc) in the R4 release (at least mine). So it should read:

cp /usr/local/lib/ivtv/utils/lircrc /etc/lircrc.conf

However, the lircrc configuration seems immaterial as irw doesn't recognize the remote.

I did the Automatic install with the 686 binaries.

BTW: Thank you Cecil for making this. It really helps out!

You're welcome. The file that you need to copy over isn't lircrc but lircd.conf. For more details, take a look at the README in utils.

yes if you copied an lircrc file in there you definately won't be working properly.

I completely reinstalled the machine with the 686 binaries. I used http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/hauppauge/lircd.conf.hauppauge.irman as my lircd.conf. I am still not getting any remote feedback from MythTV or irw. Do you have any other suggestions?

did you either reboot or restart lircd after you changed the /etc/lircd.conf file?

as root do /etc/init.d/lircd restart

I think the .irman extension from the lirc.org is only for use with IRMAN receivers. Assuming you dont have an IRMAN receiver but rather using the receiver that comes wiht the card, you'll want to try the non-irman file:

http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/hauppauge/lircd.conf.hauppauge

That was the problem. Thanks for all your help.

Now onto transcoding, dual PVR-250's, and software raids :D.
