Hello, I have a knoppmyth box but I can only access my network by through a command:

dhcpcd -I username eth1

How do I go about installing dhcpcd off a CD, or am I just being stupid?

TIA

What version of KnoppMyth?

Did you follow the instructions regarding netcardconfig?

What kind of network connections are eth0 and eth1?

why dhcp?

Do many people here use dhcp for Myth servers? In my opinion, any box that is label 'server' that may need to be accessed over the network (remotefront end, webmin, mythweb) should have a well know static IP.

netcardconfig

In my case (note: I didn't open the thread), all my boxes here are configured via dhcp, but I have static assignments (by ethernet card address) set up in my router (w/ the integrated dhcp server).

Brendan,

just courious, why? Why ask the router to pass out static IDs.

Got about 12 real ethernet devices here, and 5 or 6 virtual (vmware uses virtual ethernet addresses) ones. It just makes sense to me to keep all of the mappings in one place.

Also, that way I don't have to reconfigure the laptops when away from home base too. They're always DHCP enabled, but when at home base, I can always contact them via the known IP address.
