Hey all,

I'm trying to add a second tuner card but it doesn't seem like its being recognized correctly. What is the best way to set up the bttv files so the tuners get recognized?

Relevant info from lspci :

00:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11)
00:08.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11)
00:0b.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant: Unknown device 8800 (rev 05)

basically the first card is recognized with btaudio for sound. Second card is unknown. First card is a TV Wonder, second is a TV Wonder Pro (not sure what the difference is there)

any help appreciated. Thanks!

Perhaps you need to tell the module which card it is? A serach of the forum will let you know how to do this...

cesman, I assumed that I would tell the module the card type in the same way that I did with the first card which was editing the bttv files in /etc/mythtv/modules

for bttv (default i guess) i had :

alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
options bttv autoload=1 card=63 radio=0 pll=1 tuner=2
options btaudio rate=32000 dsp1=1 dsp2=2 mixer=1 debug=2
alias sound-slot-1 btaudio

works great for the first card... i tried editing bttv0 and bttv1 but doesn't seem to do any good for the second card. any ideas?

I've got plenty of ideas....I've posted on this very subject with a 250 and Pinnacle Micro. Have you seen that post? You'll want to place card and tuner type for all 3 cards. I'd leave the btaudio stuff for the individual file for which ever cards supports it...

cesman,

first off its only two cards, and I was assuming the tuner type and card are the same (recognized card is an ATI TV Wonder, unrecognized is an ATI TV Wonder PRO)

I tried setting options like that but still can't seem to get it to recognize the card... whats the best thing to try?

Oh, I was think you had three cards... Check to see if the card type and tuner type is different for the Pro or if the Pro is even support w/ bttv( /usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/bttv/CARDLIST). If it is refer to my previous post.

I'm almost certain that the pro isn't supported by the bttv driver (possibly any driver) Those Canuckleheads at ATI switched the chip I think (I'm Canadian so I can poke fun at them;)

You hit the nail on the head, ATI changed the chipset

Get an ATI TV Wonder NOT ATI TV Wonder PRO
