Post subject: | Sound card drivers and installation |
I'm slightly experienced with Linux, but not at all with getting a sound card working in Linux. When starting mythfrontend I get the following error: Unable to open mixer: '/dev/mixer' What steps do I take to get my sound card drivers installed? I have found the information at www.alsa-project.org rather confusing and I am not sure how much of the directions on the alsa project site apply to KnoppMyth. By the way, I have a ISA sound card that has a ESS AudioDrive chip on it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Jason |

just out of curiosity what is the rest of the system? if it's old enough to have isa ports it must be an attempt at the weakest sytem that can run myth. |

Basic stats are: AMD K6-500 256 MB RAM Hauppauge PVR-350 General consensus from the MythTV mailing lists were that the relatively slow processor would be ok with the hardware encoding/decoding ablities of the PVR-350. Jason |
