Post subject: | FVWM not starting after install (eMachine) |
I completed installation without error but x will not start (or rather will not start correctly.) I suspect it has something to do with my eMachines integrated graphics chip, but an not really sure. When I boot, everything is fine, but the screen just goes black when GDM starts, however the system appears to be running fine from what I can tell logging on to different tty's. This is the relevent end of /var/log/messages The tuner card is also very cheap and generic and although I have since removed it, reinstalled, and gotten the same error, I thought it could hurt to provide that part of the log as well. ------begin log chunk--------- Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: i810_rng hardware driver 0.9.8 loaded Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: i2c-core.o: i2c core module Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: i2c-algo-bit.o: i2c bit algorithm module Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: bttv: driver version 0.7.104 loaded Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: bttv: using 4 buffers with 2080k (8320k total) for capture Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: bttv: Host bridge is Intel Corp. 82845G/GL [Brookdale-G] Chipset Host Bridge Jan 13 21:56:38 BeBopTV kernel: bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). check to make sure that your refresh rates in XF86Config-4 are appropriate for your monitor or tv whatever you are outputting to. |

Got it, I changed the hsync rate, and also I think it was looking at the wrong bus. I changed it to the bus that Mandrake Move gave me, and now I'm rockin the X. Thanks. |
