You do? Well, I now feel slightly less stupid.
Of course, I picked the 250 because it was supposed to be the easiest to make work. Should I look at exchanging this for a 350 or 500?
Dual support for picture in picture would be nice anyway. Or to put it more directly, what do you believe to be the easiest card to get working at this point?
Thanks.

not really sure the pvr cards have been the best, but they change their tuners every couple of days, so it's hard for the driver developers to keep up. have you tried just for grins swapping the card to a different pci slot in case it's some sort of irq conflict? I find it odd that the drivers appear to autodetect your card properly, but it doesn't work.

Yes, I have tried all 3 PCI slots and, for whatever it is worth, the MSI (motherboard) tech support guy said it couldn't be an irq problem.
I'm guessing they've updated something's firmware on their cards and it will be sometime before the programming geeks solve it. I'm sure they're highly talented people, but with real life jobs. And these things just take some time.
How hard or easy would it be to set up one of the HDTV cards?
I would really just love to make this thing work.

the two linux supported hdtv cards work "out of the box" and that I know of neither has changed tuners or any such nonsence.

On this page of the wiki:
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=TVCards
I found this:
"Leadtek 2000XP Deluxe
"Works well with Mythtv. Autodetected and configured by the installer. Comes with a remote control too. The quality seems fairly average, but the price is very good."
Since I don't really need HDTV capabilities right now, and those cards will only get better and cheaper, I'm thinking of the Leadtek.
However, you've told me that much of the data in the wiki is out of date, so I'm not sure if I should trust these comments.
Is the data up to date? If so, I may buy this card.
Thanks.

the leadtek card works fine I have one of them, but it does not work "out of the box" usually you need to edit a config file to tell it that you have card 34 and you will need to run the new lirc script to get the remote working, and mine still seems to be a bit sensitive at this point and move two shows at a time in the guide, but I haven't put much work into it.

Hi. I've been scanning posts, focusing on newer ones, to see if anyone is having success with the newer Hauppauge 250 cards. I've also been searcing for posts in which people have gotten other cards to work.
I found this:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ppauge+500
and since it is a post from May, was thinking of trying to get this working using either my 250 card or by getting a Hauppauge 500MCE card.
Are the instructions current enough that this is worth trying, or is this another post you would say is too old to be helpful?
Thanks.
Peter
