Is there any way to install KnoppMyth directly onto hdb? At the moment, it gives me an error when I try to partition it (I'll get the actual error message posted soon)

The problem is, the Epia machine I'm installing it to has a 2.5" HDD and a laptop DVD drive connected by a cable that combines the connectors for both. The result is the DVD drive is hda, and the HDD hdb and I have no idea how to change it!

Do the drives have jumpers like the 3.5/5.25 inch drives do to set master/slave? You could change the jumpers from what is probably cable select to explicitly specify the hdd as master and the dvd as slave.

also is the harddrive on the end of the cable instead of in the middle, as that is what usually determines master/slave in cable select mode.

Well, the problem is that although the HDD has jumpers, the DVD drive doesn't! It insists it be master.

No matter though, I managed to hack another cable together and force it into the system so that the HDD is now primary master and DVD is secondary master. Took some effort (and stretching) but it just made it :)
