It would help if you provide more information. Are you running off the CD as a frontend only? Is the backend(mysql) configured to listen for network traffic? Open and xterm and run mythfrontend from there...

i opened xterm and then i run mythfrontend
that gives me the error message:
mysql db not found or something else...

i also tried to install knoppmyth but
my harddisks are in read only mode ???
can i format a partition under w2k with partitionmagic
in "linux-ext2", to solve this problem?

also a problem is that knoppmyth couldnt find a network adapter
i have onbord Lan on my Epox 8rda3I

Again you are being vague... "db not found or something" does really tell us much. If you hard drive are read only, how did you install? Is you BIOS set correctly? If you follow the instructions manual or auto, you don't have to use Partition Magic to format the drive.
