Hi There!

I must say that I'm new to mythtv, but as far as I've seen it it's perfect for my needs.

First of all to the hardware I'm using a
ECS K7SEM
Athlon XP 1700+
1024 MB Cache
Hauppauge PVR-350
Toshiba DVD
160 GB Samsung Spinpoint

But right now I'm facing some problems. I've downloaded KnoppMyth installed it (apart that my tft monitor starts flickering during install).

When I start live TV I have a gray screen and I have no channels to choose.
Currently tv_grab_de does not work and I'm asking myself where the h*ll do I get thoes channels from.

Second problem, I can't play dvds or video cds.

I've tried mythfilldatabase but I only get an error message.

I'm currently a bit disapointed because nealy half of the time ivtv returns me a timeout and after a reboot it works fine.

Why isn't there a feature to scan for the channels available?

I'd be very happy for any advice.

greetings,
wrk

well I have an answer to one of your questions. DVD's will not play after the default install because decss is not installed for legal reasons. As for videoCD's playing I would think they should work fine.

Hi there!

I've tried it again with a Philips VideoCD (MPEG1) and nothing happens.

Never the less I can't get my PVR 350 work. When I select Watch TV I get a black screen and thats it no error message on the console nothing.
And PAL TVOut doesn't work as well.

I'd suggest for R5 that there should be at lease an rpm for pal users.

greetings,
wrk

well two things.
knoppmyth uses .deb not rpm, and all the pal stuff is just configuration options and wouldn't be changed by a different .deb anyways.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Short question: After three days trying to get mythtv to run with upc telekabel and not knowing how to obtain the channel information (frequency etc). Is a EPIA-M a better solution for TV-Out or should I go on trying to get the PVR TV-Out to run.

greetings,

Well unfortunately neither on is a great solution coupled with knoppmyth at this point. I know the dev's are working to get the 350 to work with R5. I do not have either one so I can't really be of too much help, but I know there are numerous threads on the 350 on this forum, and I believe that there are a couple on the epia as well. If I am not mistaken, which I may be because I have not kept up with the epia development, the epia only has binary drivers that are compiled for the redhat kernel, and an old one at that, and they cannot even be forced into a debian kernel.
