Hey all.

I'm running a AMD Athlon64 3200+ processor, a 300GB sata hdd and a nvidia video card on my htpc. during the installation of knoppmyth, there are some error messages but after that, the error messages disappear and knoppmyth reports success in installation.

however, when i boot, it gives me a kernel panic to the tune of not being able to mount /dev/sda1, my hard disk partition. any ideas why this is happening? i DID load the knoppmyth-sata configuration during installation, so i presume that the sata drivers are installed. however, the kernel panic tells me otherwise.

HELP please! i'm getting very frustrated as i've tried gentoo without success and knoppmyth is my last-ditch attempt before i move to windows mce.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to use MCE then just go ahead and use MCE. We won't be strong armed into helping by such a threat... On the other hand, it would help if you post the text of the panic. My MBE runs totally on SATA....
