Tried many things. "auto install" wouldn't work, remove all other drives, manual install with drive on /dev/hda, get successfull install message, reboot get BIOS boot up screen "verifying DMI Pool data" then blinking cursor.

I've mounted /dev/hda1 & checked no "/etc/lilo.conf" file. I tried following the instructions to update lilo, get a message that I have the latest version, run lilo -v then I get a no such file or directory for the lilo.cconf file. Using V5A16, tried Version 4.5, same results.

FRUSTRATED!!!

Soyo K7V Dragon Plus
Maxtor 80GB ATA 133 7200rpm HD
PVR 250
Radeon 32mb AIW AGP card
Audigy SCard
Athlon XP 1500+
768MB Crucial PC2100 Ram

Any ideas?

Thats interesting. There have been a number of people that have what sounds like a similar issue. I wonder if they are all missing the lilo.conf file. Perhaps there is something in the installation that doesnt work all of the time and it hoses lilo.conf.

Yea, I noticed several posts about this too. Most of the suggestions revolve around editing the /etc/lilo.conf file but if you don't have one how can you edit it??

At this point I wouldn't mind having to boot from a floppy but I didn't across the option to create a boot floppy during install.

I was hoping someone had a reason why I can't get the bootloader to install properly.
