When you run an upgrade install, at what point does knoppmyth need the /myth/backup/ folder (or hda4/backup)? For instance, if I have my /myth normally mapped to /dev/vg/myth can I run an upgrade install and prior to entering the password for the first time install lvm support and edit my fstab and reboot and go from there without any problems? Also, If I don't do an upgrade install, but have the backups, can I run a command to restore the database from a backup? thanks. |

After installing, when the system reboots. You'll need to recover the LVM volume. Details are on the wiki.... myth-restore. |

ah, thanks for the suggestion, I missed that in the wiki. what exactly does myth-restore do? If I just want to restore the database, can I just put the database backups in the backup folder and run myth-restore, or does it need all backup files? |

The only one that isn't conditional is mythtv.tar.bz2, but there is no error checking and it will continue regardless. The shell script for this is simple enough and probably worth reading if you want to take the corner on two wheels. |
