Ok just upgraded to R5A22 and now gdm won't start. I get the following message:

Code:
Checking nVidia video driver installationError: No nVidia VGA adaptor found.
.
Starting GNOME Display Manager: gfm/etc/rc5.d/S99gdm: line 41: 4472 Bus error
start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile $PIDFILE --name gdm $SSD_ARG
already running.

does r5a22 install the nvidia driver out of the box or something? Because I have an ati card. I tried running install-radeon-debian.sh, but that came up with a host failed error, plus i think i remember reading that only works with an radeon 8500 and up. R5V16 worked fine for me out of the box after a clean installation

Does anybody have any clues on how to fix this?

Luckily I made a backup of hda1 before the upgrade, so i'll just restore that for now until anyone comes up with any ideas

The nVidia drivers are only installed if you have a video card w/ an nVidia chipset.

I would change the driver in XF86Config-4 to ati and see what happens, unless your ati video card is a brand new one.

Thanks for the responce, so I tried that, and it didn't make a difference. I didn't have that much to lose, so I just did a fresh install. It seemed to work after that.

I like the new default ati remote configuration. The sensitivity problem seems to be fixed now. Although I do have one question. How come volume up and down weren't mapped to any keys? Not a big deal, it's not that hard to recompile the driver (Although I'm still trying to find a better way to compile it rather than compiling everything with /usr/src/linux/make modules)

So here's my new issue. My dvd drive isn't being mounted. There's no /mnt/dvd link. The only thing I noticed is that /dev/dvd, is pointing to hdd, and the dvd drive is hdc, I changed that link, but figured it wouldn't fix the problem. I ran the installation from the cd-rom drive which is hdd. Anyways I see there's a lot of posts somewhat similar, I'll check them out.
