I think it installed correctly - not sure. I did get some error's during installation but they seem like error's other's had and were told not to be concerned (not sure if those errors were for older versions). I installed version R5A16 and after the disk installs - I get the following error.

could not umount/mnt/hdinstall - trying /dev/hda1 instead

it then proceeds on to unmount /ramdisk and /dev/root

Then (after prompted to do so) when I take the cd out and the system reboots - it comes up to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left. I do at that point have bios set to boot from the ide drive that knoppmyth has been loaded to

HARDWARE
Asus p4p800 mainboard
two sata disks that have windows xp installed
used western digital ide hdd for knoppmyth (set up as cable select)
wd disk was previously being used to store windows media files
cdrw drive
dvd rom drive
dvdrw drive
Compro Videomate tv/fm tuner
nvidia GeForce FX 5200 video card

Darn that's a lot of optical drives. Check your BIOS, the WD PATA drive should be connected as your primary master which Linux will see as /dev/hda. If it's not, everything gets more complicated.

The WD PATA is recognized in BIOS as primary master and is set up in boot sequence to boot first. I can't remember if I ever had a copy of windows installed to that hard drive - although I most recently used it for Windows Media files. I do remember in the past having a copy of College Linux installed to the drive. I'm not sure what Master Boot Record means - trying to research that. Unsure if that could be a problem. Thanks for the suggestion - need all I can get.

As for all the optical drives - I had a form of compulsive behavior at the newegg site.
