Post subject: | R5A26 Boot doesn't provide six options |
I'm currently running R5A16 and am booting R5A26. When booting, it seems to half-boot the cd and half-boot the existing host operating system - resulting in many errors. After I log-in, I notice that some of my disk partitions are mounted. I'm running off of the TV-out of a Nvidia geforce MX400. When booting, it never gives me the menu with six options on it - I'd like to do an auto-upgrade. I choose the "tv<enter>" option from the boot prompt. Thanks, Brian |

Hi, Sounds like a possible bad burn. Do the cd test to be sure it is good. Mike |

I was pissed off also when I saw this. It means your hard drive isnt partitioned yet. It will only show all six when you have a minimum of a swap partition and a / toot partition. Of course you may do more but this is the bare minimum. |

Hi andyem, I don't quite understand where you are coming from, it is only a computer and there is no need to be emotional. If something doesn't work you fall back, re-evaluate the situation and then move forward. Going from A16 to me means the drive was formated, partioned and functional and that twivel was attempting an upgrade which he mentioned was the case. A little clarity? Mike |

I received that exact error message when it wasnt partitioned properly either the partitions didnt have the proper names or there were the required partitions available for a minimum system boot. At least im trying to give him suggestions and not pick apart other people. ![]() |

Hi andyem, Not a problem, since there wasn't any response I could only assume that I had pointed him in a positive direction so your note sort of confused me. I believe there is a second menu if doing the manual install that does sometimes shows those symptoms when things are not happy in the partitioning. Anyway I hope most have advanced to the much newer improved R5B7. Have a great day! Mike |
