Hi folks

How is it possible to update the DB schema from myth-0.12 to myth-014. Somehow the mythv-setup didn't do it :?, because when running mythtv-setup the first attempt after having installed the 0.14 version of mythTV, I got an error that libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1 was not found.

I could fix that by re-installing the original 4363 nvidia driver (see http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... torder=asc). For that, gdm needs to be stopped before. This also quits the mythtv-setup session. After restarting it it didn't update the db schema as expected.

What did I wrong? Any tips for me...?

Perhaps removing the deb and reinstalling? Or install another. How do you know the schema didn't get updated?

Well, it's just a presumption, because I already tried to update to myth-0.14 two days ago but had to begin from scratch again because I messed up some things (I'm still quite new to linux) and because it seemed to me to be the faster way instead of fiddling around with configs, modules, etc. There, if I remember correctly, first thing I saw in the XTerm window after mythtv-setup started, was approximately 10 lines telling me that schema xyz (don't remeber the correct message, sorry) was updated. Similar messages are also appearing during mythtv-setup in the version 0.12 of R4. That's why I think the db schema of 0.14 wasn't updated.

However, of course I might be wrong... if so, please tell me how to check whether or not my db schema was updated.

One thing I'm not quite sure about it: do I have to run mythtv-setup within a XTerm window or is it possible without X? Before or after restarting mythtv-backend? Do I have to apt-get remove specific packages before updating from 0.12 to 0.14 (as it seems to be necessary to update to 0.13 like mentioned in http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=583 )?

And one more thing: I get a lot of test_ioctl errors in dmesg, probably after set_ivtv_params (?) has started. IVTV driver itself loads correctly. I'm still using the IVTV version delivered with R4. Should I update to version 0.1.9 or can I safely ignore it?

You don't have to update to 0.13 then 0.14. If you run mythtv-setup again and it doesn't update the schema then you should be ok. No mythtv-setup needs to run from within X. If you PVR x50 is working fine, then I'd say you can ignore the messages. Since you didn't post, we cannot tell if there is a problem.
