Well I installed Knoppix Myth R5A26 onto a Compaq SFF 866Mhz PIII.
It picked up the video card (Intel 815) and ALSA sound no problem.

The installation form the .ISO cd went without a problem.

I am at the main KnoppixMyth window with all the big blue circles.
I try to watch Live TV and it says all available inputs are being used. I have to delete a recording? from the menu.

What I need to do is setup KnoppixMyth TV to use Channel 8 as the default channel (almost everyone else uses channel 3 as their default channel)

Why do I have to use Channel 8 as my main channel?
Because I am on the Bell ExpressVu for Condos that uses VDSL. On this system, I can setup a maximum of 3 TVs or VCRs etc. Currently I am using only 2. Channel 3 is being used by my living room TV. Channel 8 was being used by my Windows MPEG-TV card. Another channel 13 is available.

I set my VCR to channel 8, and all 400 digital channels are available to the Windows MPEG tv card.

So I figure, I disconnect the coax off the Windows TV-MPEG card and connect it to the Hauppage PVR-250 card.

Everything boots up fine, but I dont see any video anywhere. Not even sure how to set Knoppix MythTV to use channel 8 as the PRIMARY channel.

Just pretend it is your home system that uses channel 3.
I just have to use channel 8 because it is VDSL.

*******
I think I am supposed to treat the Knoppix Myth as a fancy VCR?
Am I able to watch TV as I record it?
I hope so, otherwise how can I know what I am recording?
*******

So for now I pulled the coax cable from the Knoppix Myth and put it back on the VCR set to use channel 8, and went back to using the Windows MPEG-TV card.

Obviously I want to get the Knoppix Myth as my primary television viewing and recording device. (much like my Windows MPEG-TV card does now)

However, not sure if this is possible.

First, it is KnoppMyth. Second, KnoppMyth > Installation is for issues related to installing KnoppMyth. Third, you need to read the MythTV docs. Fourth, search search the forum. Fifth, search the MythTV archives.

Hi teddymills,

You know how to hurt cesman huh?

Knoppix Myth
bad.

After you read the docs at mythtv.org, I would suggest trying to make a channel 8 using the channel editor in mythtv-setup and set it for your default setting under the input connections.

Kind of a strange setup, and this will cause you grief recording.

Also suggest posting maybe in general for any more followup.

Mike
