Post subject:  saa7134 video capture card configuration

hi, I purchased a flyvideo 2000 pci video capture card today and im trying to get it working. I grabed the drivers from bytesex.org for saa7134 based cards(my card was listed as being compatible) i compiled it and when it mod probed it I got unresolved symbol errors. I read on bytesex that i need at least 2.4.22 kernel for the drivers to work. I grabed the patch for 2.4.22 from kernel.org, can I just apply this and try and make the module ? any help would be greatly appreciated

I would not try to patch a knoppmyth kernel with patches from kernel.org because they are heavily modified from the stock kernels. I was like 99% certian that knoppmyth had kernel 2.4.22 already.

nope says 2.4.21-xfs , so anyone got one of these cards working on the r4 release , should I just grab the source for the latest 2.4.x kernel ? , will i run into issues using a newer kernel ?

nevermind took the card back and exchanged it for a pinnacle PCTV. Read up on the LIRC page that it supports the remote but not the infrared module, so im pretty pissed about that because I figured since it was just some basic serial infrared reciever LIRC would support it. well I installed the new card and I think it is getting unresolved symbol errors at boot time but when I check dmesg i don't see anything. it is also only loading videodev, gonna try what cesman suggested in another thread about setting up the bttv driver, if I can't get it to work I'll come bug the gurus some more

Does anyone know if the SAA7134 driver has been included in R4V3?
