I am trying to setup knopp myth on a striped aray, containing operating sys's that I wish to keep. So a software raid wont work. I think I have found a soulution at. http://www.infowares.com/linux/ http://www.infowares.com/linux/#medley_dl_patch in the form of a precompiled module. http://www.infowares.com/linux/modules/ ... 3/medley.o This module is for "Knoppix 3.3 (beta, kernel 2.4.24-xfs)" What I need to know is this. Does R5A26 use this Knoppix 3.3 (beta, kernel 2.4.24-xfs) or do I need a earler version? sys hardware: nforce2 chipset onbord sil3112 SATARaid AMD 3000 1GB ram 2 WD raptures for 72GB aray I plan on bulding a new machine for my livingroom, if I can get this to install on this machine. Thanks |

First, the knoppmyth setup is designed for a standalone box, people have managed to set it up to dual boot, so make sure you search the forums for their posts. Secondly, you're trying to set it up on a software raid controller, so I would assume you'd need support for that controller in the kernel of the CD, otherwise the install will either not see the hard disks, or it may try to install it on one of the disks. If there's no support for that controller you'd have to make yourself a new knoppmyth boot disk, which (I get the impression) isn't an easy task. as009988 wrote: Does R5A26 use this Knoppix 3.3 (beta, kernel 2.4.24-xfs) or do I need a earler version? I'm not certain, but the changelog (http://mysettopbox.tv/CHANGELOG.txt) states that the last kernel upgrade was to 2.6.13.2-chw-3 as009988 wrote: I plan on bulding a new machine for my livingroom, if I can get this to install on this machine.
I dipped my toe in knoppmyth by installing an old hard drive and booting it off that, it allowed me to try it out without having to build a whole new system, if you can do that it'll be a lot easier. Mephi[/url] |
