Did it twice to be sure. R5A30

Wiped all partitions and ran the install from scratch. entered timezone data, entered user names, password, and admin password, selected YES at the final warning, then got

/usr/local/bin/KnoppMyth-auto: line 608: / 1000000: syntax error: operand expected (error token is "/ 1000000")

then it drops to prompt

root@tty1[/]#

and that's it.

On the plus side, I think this build is recognizing my NIC on it's own now... not sure. I decided to give 30 a try because 26 wasn't bringing up my ATI TV WONDER pci card.

Doh! forgot to list the equipment.

HP Compaq 5100 sff box
ATI tv wonder pci

that's it. the box is a corp style box with 40 gig drive (will upgrade later), 2.8 ghz p4, 1 gig ram, broadcom NIC. Only thing added currently is the ATI tv wonder card.

The drive is SATA, but it's running ide emulation in bios. it was enough to convince 26 to run the auto-install. before i turned the emulation on, 26 would not auto-install at all.

Drive is the only thing on it's interface, so it's master. the cd is a dvd rom drive on ide.

Could this just be a bad burn? Did you check the MD5?

For SATA do the manual install process.

Update

Tried R5A30.1 via manual install and it did go in successfully.

It's now identifying both my NIC and capture card OK. no sound yet though.

This install issue is resolved.
