I just reinstalled KnoppMyth (R5A30.1? - the most recent), and whenever I reboot, the configuration script (asks for root password) pops up rather than the frontend. I remember the first time I installed, it rebooted after the script was done, but it now just runs through the script and then closes the terminal window when it's done. Anyone know why it is not going away? If not, where in the filesystem is it telling gdm (or whatever) to run the script, rather than the frontend?

Are you certain you completed all steps after install and the first reboot? Have you added another tuner card? rm /home/mythtv/.configure

I did everything that popped up. It loads up myth-setup, then when I exit that, it restarts sql, mythbackend and outputs:

Total desktop width=800, height=600, numscreens=1

It loads up mythfrontend, then when I quit the frontend, the command prompt box just goes away.

/home/mythtv/.configure does not exist. Where is the startup script that is callling the configure script? I don't think that the setup ever did a reboot after booting to X the first time (in other words, it did the text-mode install stuff, rebooted into X and asked my for my time zone, etc, but I don't think it rebooted then).

edit: by the way, mythfrontend does come up correctly if I restart gdm with /etc/init.d/gdm restart.

If .configure isn't there, is .upgrade? These are the only two files that would cause the xterm asking for root password to popup.

There is no .upgrade either. For whatever reason, live TV doesn't work either -- it shows mostly a green screen. I don't know if this is related, I haven't gotten around to trying to figure out what is wrong with it. Keep in mind that this hardware was working perfectly before I upgraded to 30.1, so it is not an incompatibility. Where is the script that looks for .configure or .upgrade?

It turns out the .newcard file is recreated every boot. I am not changing hardware between boots. What would be the reason for the file being created? I will just take it out of the KnoppMyth-run file for now.
