I can't seem to get a list of providers for some reason. After I type in my zip code (slight delay just before typing in the 5'th digit), the provider drop-down is empty. Is this the way it should be, or is it supposed to fill those in for me so I can select my calbe provider? I'm in NA and the box has full internet connectivity.

Does this mean I should update xmltv? I tried the newer windows version (0.5.29) and it seemed to be able to d/l the providers. I'm going to try to do this within the knoppmyth setup as well, but just wondering if I can get some confirmation.

I think the version currently installed with the distro is 0.5.19.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen so many posts and things while trying to figure out everything that is involved here that my brain is in a fog...

The apt-get update worked fine...from what I can tell.

When I tried "apt-get upgrade xmltv" it said that packages were held back (long list):

I found another thread with some help that corrected this:

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=250

Basically, I had to :
apt-get install xmltv

And now xmltv is updated to the latest version.

I now get a server error 505 when I attempt to run tv_grab_na --configure . I assume the website that this data is on is then having problems, correct?

sorry about the wrong command it's been a hecktic day and I know better than that I've been running debian based distros for years now. apt-get upgrade tries to upgrade all package.

well it could be the site, but why are you running that command? all you should have to do is go into the setup choose your zip and provider then run mythfilldatabase.

NP. It's not as embarassing as what I did tho...I used a version based on MythTV 0.12 ! At least I learned a few new important Debian commands :)

I saw another poster who said something about checking the MD5SUM...I did this and realized I had the wrong version.

It's frustrating to see others say it works great and then spend tons of time trying to figure out what you did wrong.

I guess the first d/l site has not updated its version.

The hust.la/KnoppMyth link seems to have the old version still.

DOH!

All mirrors have R4V2.

OK, final result is that the zap2it.com site that the tv_grab_na script gets it's channel listings from was down for a couple of days.

After reinstalling the R4V2 KnoppMyth setup from scratch using the correct CD I was able to get the listing today.

The other problem was DVD's playing back garbled, but that was fixed by installing a missing library using the "apt-get install " command that I saw in another post.

Everything now seems to work correctly coming through my VGA monitor. Off to tackle getting the output through the PVR-350 card and the s-video connector to my TV.
