I am trying a manual install because I am using a PCI disk controller and my drive is hde1 through 4. At the end, it does not create the /myth directory tree on the 4th partition.

Am I supposed to create this tree manually, or did something go wrong that I need to look into?

Yes, in a manual install it does create the tree (after rebooting during the configuration). mkmythdir

You have to make the filesystem on /dev/hde4 before starting the install. Then the file tree should be created correctly.
