The primary IDE slot on my motherboard is damaged. However, I've been happily running ubuntu on it using the secondary ide. Can't get KnoppMyth to install on hdc at all. Seems I might need to edit the config file and re-build the cd. Any ideas how to go about this?, as I get edit the file in nano, but obviously can't save it back. |

You should be able to use manual install. If it is failing, you need to provide details. |

I've tried the manual install, but get an error on partioning, saying the drive is read-only. I'd rather not have to get a new motherboard just to install knoppmyth because of a peculiarity with the install. There should be a way around this. |

I ran into this problem, i found the only fix was to use maxtors format cd (for my maxtor drive) and format the harddrive with it. after that manual worked ok. i went ahead and also wrote zros to the hard drive as well, which is an option on the Bootable ISO available from maxtors site. i would recomend this unless its not an option to format |
