when you installed KnoppMyth, it auto-ran /usr/local/bin/mythtv-setup for you (as root). during setup, you should have selected input devices and also selected channel maps associated with those input devices. two such channel map are "directTV USA" and "directTV {$local}", where $local would have been for your directtv region. if you had picked one of those, the setup program would have consulted xmltv etc via your network connection in order to fetch a channel map (but no program data yet). and then you would have had to associate that channel map with a given input. once mythtv-setup completes, you were requested by the installer program to run "mythfilldatabase", at which time the next 9 days of directtv program info would have been downloaded and entered into your local mysql database. note, with a full directtv channel map this can take on the order of two hours or more. (later on you can delete the channels you are not subscribed to). if none of this sounds familiar to you, exit out of myth to an Xterm window, and run # /usr/local/bin/mythtv-setup answer yes & yes to the two questions and then move consecutively from one setup menu icon to the next, completing each before proceeding. do not skip around. when you are done, run mythfilldatabase. if it completes in less than 5 minutes you definitely didn't get the inputs and channel maps correct. try again. jim |
