Post subject: | nvidia over scan |
I am wondering how many people out there uses the nvidia's overscan option. Seems like when I enable overscan, I get 2 problems. First problem is the flickering when viewing the mythtv menu. This i can over look because I don't spent too much time in the menu. The second problem has to do with Live TV. When overscan is on, in fast moving pictures, I get this tearing effect. This goes away when I disable overscan. The thing is I have enabled de-interlacing in the setup. I played around with DNR option in IVTV with no luck. I do not get tearing when playing stuff from video (mplay). Any ideas? |

Sigh... KnoppMyth is for KnoppMyth related issues, hence KnoppMyth-> Installation is for Installation issue related to KnoppMyth. This could go in MythTV -> General or Linux -> General. Please use the forum wisely(Everyone!). Searching and posting to the appropriate area makes it easy to for other to find information when a problem is encountered. |

Post subject: | tearing |
Sorry to keep this thread going when in the wrong section, but I do have an answer for you. I suppose this thread is sticky because the important issue here is posting to the right area (like the post in announcements). You didn't specify weather you were viewing through a monitor or TV, but I had the same problem viewing thorugh my TV. I did a default install with a monitor so I could read the text, and then when installed I went to TV. Long story short I tried everthing except the darn knoppmyth instructions... I've read them so many times I assuemed I remembered it all-- HA. Can't tell you what a fond supporter of RTFM I am. And I mean I'm the worst offender! Anyway, I went into my X11 settings and noticed my scan settings were incorrect for tv use. My TV didn't blow up so originally I figured what the hell, a better frequency setting has to be better. With no other options to fix the tear settings, I finally set my X11 to the recommended frequencies and BAM!-- no tearing when using overscan on my GF4 to tv out! Hope this works for you, the tearing is a real bummer. |
