Hardware setup for my backend server
P4B(intel chipset)1013b4 bios
PVR-500
512
nvidia-PCI
intel100

i am playing with the new beta and have the following issues i have found.
-while post copy scripts are running i get a bunch of file missing errors on the fstab job something about RSA key and missing files /* but it pops up and gone too fast to get it in a good break routine. (this happens all the time) MD5 is good however the tescd lilo boot option is not on the cd any more? (tried burning at 4x just for fun)

-when i install the OS 2/3 of the time i will get the fail to load firmware and the /dev/video is not scanable in final install
similar http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... o0+problem

the difference i noticed was that it was finding e807,e817 non a 8008 like others?

- also i have seen one other issue that might be just a script and not allowed with this distro. if i have the HDD on IDE2 it will fail to find a HDD

i have the box fully working with 30.2

from reading it sounds like the 2nd issue was logged as a bug but just adding data if it helps. the first issue i cant find any reason for.

I have replicated the problems on other hardware, same results with all the hardware my other hardware is VIA however and DMA-crap with the hauppages.

Switching to non-SMP kernel cleared up the "DMA-crap with the hauppages" for me.

The DMA issues manifested differently in R5A16 and R5B7, but in both cases a kernel
recompile cleared up the issue. I posted a recompile howto in the tips section
to help people save a bit of time doing the recompile on R5B7.

From watching the forum I too see evidence of quirks -- when two back to back
installs seem to leave the machine in different states. Whether with regard to firmware not
loading or strangeness with lirc. I am not never sure though if installs were identical.
Maybe one was from cold boot and other warm, maybe an auto upgrade followed by
a clean install -- its hard to tell what might be going on..

good tip on the DMA (i might try that just to use the hardware rather then let it rust)

the installs i always run with my error findings are as follows

Clean install AutoInstall
no remotes no IR
i tested with 586

i did test with 686 once but need to test again to remember what the result was. i will do that this evening.

i watched the errors post file copy and around the fstab jobs and noticed that there was some warning about IDE channels again. i wonder if this intel chipset has a issue with the kernel

the DMA issue isnt as bad for me since i have other hardware, i mena it has been a issue for years. so.
