ok I try to do a auto install on my 200 gig drive in what was a working system before i decided to do a clean install. I accept all defaults and it begins to format the drives after partitioning. it gets through hda1 hda2 but on hda3 it returns
error: formatting of /dev/hda3 failed. Some messages
from mkfs.ext3: Writing inode tables:
1/1477
3/1477
5/1477
..........
keeps going

but when I immeadatly go to a terminal window ctrl alt f2 and run the command mkfs.ext3 -b 4096 /dev/hda3
the format runs and completes successfully.
Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I"m desperate for help.

ok to add to this it looks like it also is outputting "warning had trouble writing out superblocks.done" does this lead to a dead drive? Not looking forward to that.
