On the wrong system this weekend, I did an apt-get dist upgrade against a KnoppixMythtv box that 'had' been running fine. Now there are several issues but the only one that I cannot beat is this one.

AUDIO-

I have audio for playback of recorded shows, video, and mp3. I have NO audio on any new recordings, or on love tv.

System specs:

2.2 GHz P4
512 RAM
~180 GB storage various config
Intel 845 video
SB Live

This functioned fine for a week without issues and I would like to "save" it if I can. If not then let me know.

Any hint or suggestions along with any needed information let me know

This includes the "newest" versions of mythtv

OK that got me the audio back but now the only way to mute it is to drop to a VT and remute it after I am done watching TV.

Any ideas on the root cause and how to fix it (other then a reinstall?)?

well, mythtv lets you control either PCM or Master volume, this can be selected in general setup. I sort of have this problem too, since my volume is for some odd reason controlled by the headphone output instead of master, and if PCM goes to high, the sound distorts. Anyone know how to remap what mythtv controls?
