that error is trivial and can be ignored. It is not the cause of your problems. |

any idea where to search for the problem ?! ![]() i've got an old hauppauge wintv primo card. could it be the old tv card ? |

well from the log you posted the only thing that looks out of place is ioctl VIDIOC_G_FMT: Invalid argument you may try searching for that, but it may be benign too. I can't remember the log formats, but I think that is the /var/log/messages. if so look in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log and see if anything shows up that might give a clue. I may have those log files backwards, but you get the idea. also you could try running it from an xterm and see if you get any messages when it crashes, if it doesn't lock up the entire machine that is. |

What chipset do you have on the motherboard? Could it possibly be an apic problem? |

You can launch the frontend and start/stop other myth related services from an xterm. To start the frontend from an xterm type 'mythfrontend' |

so i have to start a normal xterm, than start the mytbackend and then mythfrontend ?! mmmh...i've read mcu about problems with nforce2 chipset ![]() maybe the best solution will be changing the motherboard. but...it must work with nforce2 !!!! ![]() |
