Hi,

Mythnews has not updated any RSS feeds since I installed R5E50.
It did update on a previous version. Any ideas why? I have checked
the update period - it was set to 30, I updated to 60 with no effect.

Also, several of the feeds show "unable to download",
for example Fark and Dilbert. I assume that they dont
provide RSS anymore - am I right?

Yes - both those feeds are dead.

The new fark one is : http://www.fark.com/fark.rss
The new dilbet one is : http://feeds.feedburner.com/tapestrydilbert

The fark should be a simple search and replace in...
/usr/share/mythtv/mythnews/news-sites.xml

The dilbert one though I don't think will work, since I don't think mythnews can display the pictures.

I still can't seem to get this working reliably.

I've checked the feeds one by one. Fark was wrong, but all
the other feeds I use (CNN, Scotsman, Reuters etc) were right.
I checked them by copying the URL into firefox.
The exception is a couple of BBC feeds.

I deleted and re-added them in MythNews.
I rebooted.

Theres no errors in the backend logs.

But still they don't update.
Most strange.

Did you uncheck them?

I found that after correcting a URL in news-sites.xml the correction wasn't picked up within MythNews unless I unchecked the feed within Setup, backed up a menu, and then went back and re-checked it.
